A referendum was held July 10th- July 14th to consider combining the Catoctin Soil Conservation District and the Frederick Soil Conservation District into a single soil conservation district. The results of the referendum were as follows:
- 226 Ballots in total were received, of which:
- 171 ballots were “In Favor” of combing the soil conservation districts, and
- 55 ballots were “Against” combining the soil conservation districts
The State Soil Conservation Committee met on September 21, 2023 to determine if the combination into a single soil conservation district is administratively feasible pursuant to MD. Code Ann., Agric, 8-401.- the motion passed unanimously.
The State Soil Conservation Committee will accept applications for new board supervisors. Applications are due to State Soil Conservation Committee on October 10, 2023. Information provided on the attached form is factored into SSCC’s evaluation when making Soil Conservation District Supervisor appointments. It is recommended that applicants provide as complete information as possible. SSCC retains all rights to consider any additional and relevant information when making appointments.
